Texas hold’em is arguably the most popular variant of poker in the world. With such widespread coverage of the poker game of Texas hold’em on TV, it’s no wonder everyone wants to learn Texas hold’em rules and strategy. In this article, we’ll present some basic information on how to play Texas hold’em, a challenging and exciting game.

To start a game of Texas hold’em, the two players to the left of the dealer (clockwise) place 2 bets known as “blinds.” The small blind is equal to half the amount of the game’s agreed-upon lower stake. The big blind is equal to the full amount of the game’s agreed-upon lower stake. In a Texas hold’em game: if the players agree to set the stakes at $2 and $4, the small blind is $1 and the big blind is $2.

A marker called the “button” is placed in front of the dealer in Texas hold’em poker. The dealer’s position, according to the rules of Texas hold’em is important because he bets last, giving him a distinct advantage in this type of poker game.

Each player in a Texas hold’em game of poker receives 2 hole cards face down. Then 3 cards are dealt face up on the center of the table. These three cards are known as the “flop.” A round of betting ensues. A 4th card is dealt face up on the board and a round of betting ensues. This card is known as the “turn.” A 5th card is dealt face up on the board and a round of betting ensues. This card is known as the “river.” In each betting round in a Texas hold’em poker game a player has the option to call, raise or fold.

After the deal, each player makes the best hand he can. He can combine either on or both of his hole cards with 3 or 4 community cards. Or he can use neither of his hole cards and make a hand strictly from the 5 community cards. Here’s an example: According to Texas hold’em rules, if a player holds an ace and a 3 and the community cards are 3, 9, 10, 4 and ace, the player’s hand holds 2 pairs, 2 threes and 2 aces.

Texas hold’em is a unique game in that it’s a lot of fun for players of all levels and has just the right blend of luck and skill to keep it interesting.
