When playing poker, the feeling of shuffling poker chips in your hands, spraying chips into the medial of the casino table, or accumulating tall piles of chips after showing a successful hand, does excite you. But the question arises, who actually invented these poker chips into the game of poker and why are these used?

The simplest answer to why these poker chips were popularized is that it keeps into account the amount of money a player has won or lost. Gamblers find it easy to keep track of the amount that is on stake and how much is left for them to gamble with. From the starting, different sects of gamblers had different forms of medium of exchange. A long time ago gold pieces were used alongside coins. Early gambling hangouts used bones, paper or wood as a substitute. This was not a very good solution though. With these common materials cheating turned out to be very simple.

By the 1900’s, proper poker chip figures were introduced in the game. Players and gamblers were highly fascinated by these designs. These new patterns of poker chips could neatly be buxom upon one another and this brought glamour to the game as well. Plastic chips were later introduced in about the 1940’s. These were affordable chips which home users cold buy or casinos could easily keep.

Gamblers turned to forgery by the introduction of poker chips, therefore, many casinos started manufacturing their own set of poker chips. Casinos now have their own designed poker chips which are extremely hard to clone. This has somewhat eliminated the risk of cheating by the means of fake poker chips.

It is worth noticing that the modern poker chips are of various style, shape and material. With the help of technology, many manufactures have designed a bundle of different sets of poker chips. There is a standard set by the companies regarding the size and weight of the poker chips. They come in various designs and different materials. Some casinos even use microchips to stop forgery.

Poker chips are not only a part of casinos only, but they are also sold for public use. Players throughout the world are known to set up poker parties in which friends and families come together. They collectively eat, drink and enjoy the game of poker.
