The five nominees for this category were all a champion in one of the events during Season IV and those nominees are:

Glen Chorny – This Canadian picked up the largest prize of the whole season when he won the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final in April. Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier – He won the 2008 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with a nice payout of $2,000,000. This resulted in him being signed to be one of the privileged Team PokerStars Pro’s. Jason Mercier –Jason was the winner of the EPT San Remo for a payout of €869,000. He was an online qualifier who beat a difficult lineup at the final table. Of the five nominated, Jason was the unlikeliest nominee. This was considered to be on e of the best final tables of the entire season.

Julian Thew – This regular on the EPT tour won €670,800 when he beat one of toughest lineups of the season. His win came at the EPT Baden Classic beating his previous best of 4th place at the 2005 Scandinavian Open.
